Can I visit Australia with my testosterone medication?

Your testosterone medication is classed as a prohibited substance under Australian law and will be subject to import control.

  1. This means you are required to get an import permit to bring your medication into Australia before entering Australia.
  2. You must get permission from the Office of Chemical Safety of the Department of Health and Aging to bring your testosterone medication into Australia.
  3. When the plane lands in Australia, you’ll need to declare your medication on your Incoming Passenger Card and you should also make yourself known to Customs on arrival.

The Customs Information and Support Centre (CISC) can provide general information about Customs procedures in relation to prohibited and restricted goods. You can contact the CISC by telephone on 1300 363 263 or by e-mail at information@customs.gov.au
